Below is Real information on the "facts" about getting hired as a New Medical Transcriptionist after proper Training! We will not mislead you in any way and will tell you both the pros and cons of finding work starting out as a New MT! There are plenty of jobs for New MTs, and we will tell you the facts, and only the facts - no unrealistic promises of getting started as a New MT!

MTatHome is here to assist our students with both online and offline support. MTatHome welcomes your questions about your training material to make your learning easier. Your work is reviewed and graded by MTatHome qualified staff. There is NO extra charge for a re-testing cycle.

Once you have completed your MTatHome Medical Transcription Course you will be presented with a Certificate of Completion. Plus, you will receive MTatHome job and resume assistance for up to 2 years. Should you decide to change the physician you work for or if you want to work for several physicians you can notify MTatHome and your resume will be re-posted to our system and referred out to open positions. We also encourage you to submit your own resumes.

The MTatHome Medical Transcription Course takes an average of 4 to 6 months to complete for most people. However, there are some students that may need to take 6 to 9 months, it just depends if you are going to study full time or part time. If you need to take longer this is okay.  Some students may work a full time job while taking the course and may not have a lot of time each day to study.  There is not a time limit on the completion of our course.

Please do not let anyone tell you that you can learn Medical Transcription in under 4 to 6 months. There is too much to learn and you want to make sure you get the best Medical Transcription Training you can. The students that do finish their MT Course in the 4 month range are usual those with a medical background such as nursing or medical assistants.

Students with medical backgrounds such as RN, LPN, PA, etc. may require less time. Just remember that you do not want to rush your lessons; you want to retain what you learn.

Job Assistance - It can take an average of 1 to 3 months after receiving your Certificate to start working as an MT. This is just an average. We have many students that have gotten into positions much sooner and others that it might take a little longer. Some companies will tell you that you can get into a position with in a few weeks of finishing school. While this can happen, it is rare. Please do not be mislead. MTatHome can not guarantee job placement however we will do everything we can to help you start working as a New MT.

This is where we submit the resume of a recommended / qualified Medical Transcriptionist to your office in response to the open job position that you have submitted to us. This assists you in not having to weed through unqualified resumes of people that have not had proper MT Training. We will only send you resumes of those that have successfully completed course and that have a high % in an accuracy level as well. Once you receive the Medical Transcriptionist resume(s) then you would review them and take care of the hiring and payroll. MTatHome does not handle the direct hiring decision or payroll of the New MTs that we refer to your office. We only handle the referring / recommendation part of the necessary process from our MT Students that have successfully completed our Medical Transcription Training Course. We can tell you that all of our MT Students get adequate training in Digital Medical Transcription, Terminology, a variety of different medical field report formats for how the completed transcription should look, and much more which is required by Dr .s of the Medical Transcriptionist that work for them.

 Medical Transcription Job Assistance for our MT Students: After completion of your course through MTatHome we will assist you with touch ups to your resume at which point your resume is posted on our MTatHome online web server, as well as having you're resume referred out via fax, email and mail to job openings for New MTs to Dr .s, Hospitals, and MT Contract Companies that hire MTs to "work from home" for their company. These are job openings for New MTs that are directly out of Training, with a certificate of completion, high accuracy to allow the New Medical Transcriptionist to get your foot in the door of building your experience. After working for at least 1 year then you can start applying for most all of the online job postings for MTs asking for prior work experience.. Remember that all MTs that have 1, 2 and 3+ years experience had to start from somewhere and get their work experience from starting out New! Therefore, when people try to tell you that there are not positions for NEW MTs right out of training, then ask them where the experienced MTs got their experience from then!! However, with that said, please be aware that the Doctors, Hospitals, and MT Contract Companies that will generously give New MTs a chance to get their career started, they do normally expect for their accuracy level to be high and for all new MTs that work for them to carry a professionalism in the work they do for their Patient Records that are transcribed. While you do have the freedom of being able to work from home for Doctors that may be hundreds of miles away, you do need to treat the job you have out of your home with just as much professionalism if not more than you would if you were at an office job.

AVERAGE TIME TO GET INTO YOUR MT JOB POSITION - There is an average of 1 to 3 months in some cases to get in your first New MT Position. However, if you have a prior medical background such as a Medical Assistance, Radiologist, or if you are a Nurse then you can improve that average time to not taking as long to get into your first MT position. The 1 to 3 months is for all New MTs from no experience before training to R. N. Nurses. However, having that prior experience can mean that it may not take as long to get into an MT position. Also, if you have that prior medical background it could hopefully take less time to complete the MTatHome Medical Transcription Course with already having terminology knowledge.
